We now have a database through which we and our partners can easily search and select images for our products.

http://www.warneimages.com

The database has been designed with designers in mind so it is extremely easy to use, anybody who can search on Google can use this site, it's that simple.

login

Your name and a password will be assigned to you by Copyrights.

The basis of your contract will dictate which properties you can see and your level of access.

quick
search

In the drop down box you can specify which property you want to search, for this example we've used Beatrix Potter.

In the bottom box you type the subject you want to search for, we will type in snow.

refining
a search

This has found all the images which contain snow in some way.

If you scroll to the bottom of the screen you can see that you can further refine your search, for example by entering 'Rabbit' the results are refined to only those images that contain both snow and rabbits.

getting
more info

Having refined our search, lets take a closer look at an image. Click on the 'i' to bring up the information screen

taking a
closer look

From this we can see its reference number, name and all other details.

Click on the magnifying glass symbol to bring up a larger preview of the image.

downloading
an image

If you would like to use this image in your design you can download a low-resolution positional guide by clicking the 'lo' button, or download the high resolution file by clicking the 'hi' button.

(TBC) Macintosh users will be prompted to save the file to their hard drive the suggested name will appear as 'lores.cfm' or 'hires.cfm'. We recommend that you do not change the filename - it will be replaced by the reference number when the download begins.

Because this is a scholastic tool for academic research as well as commercial, we have some images which we don't own and don't have automatic copyright to. You can see which ones these are by the fact that they have no information button visible under them. Clicking on any of these images will prompt you to enter a contact address for information regarding the usage of these images.

advanced
search

The advanced search allows you to construct more specific search queries using one or more of the fields available. For instance if you were searching for a pencil drawing of a rabbit you could enter 'rabbit' in the keyword field and choose pencil from the 'medium' drop down. It is our view that unless you have a very specific requirement you will generally use the quick search screen.

publications
search

The publication search allows you to list image based on their usage in books. For example entering 'summer' in the search box and then clicking on the title will return all the illustrations used in the book 'The Flower Fairies of the Summer'.
